Canals of Venice Recording

When Rob McDonald moved to Seattle from Colorado he had a new musical adventure in mind. It was not going to be metal and it had to have cello! Within a week of placing an add on Craigslist for a cellist, he found Lizzie Clawson and Canals of Venice was born.

Canals of Venice was a ride at Luna Park, the "Coney Island" of the West Coast before it mysteriously burned down in the early 1900s. Canals of Venice incorporates this lost Seattle carnival history into their sound and lyrics.

Lizzie and Rob had big visions in mind for their sound, so Lizzie reached out to her old friend Eric Darst who played Viola. The duo quickly turned to a trio. After years of shuffling through musicians, Canals of Venice has finally found a group of musicians that understands and shares the original vision.

Canals of Venice mixes folk, rock, rogue country, and classical.

Their current lineup consists of:
Cello: Lizzie Clawson
Viola: Eric Darst
Trumpet/Vocals:Laura Oakes Cannon
Guitar/Vocals: Rob McDonald
Bass: Abhishek Gupta
Drums: Colleen Burns

Canals of Venice is now embarking on their next recording and needs your help. $2000 will cover the cost of recording, mixing, and production.

All donations of $12 or more will recieve a digital copy of our album
