I am writing on behalf of my dear cousin who is too proud to ask for help with her cancer expenses, written as if it is her speaking.

Hi, my name is Chris and I am a court reporter. As a court reporter, when Covid-19 hit I was put out of work and I was able to get some unemployment to help but then not feeling well I ended up finding out I had stage 4 colon cancer. What a punch in the gut, my first surgery was done immediately. During healing I had sought out oncologists who did more testing and MRIs to find out just how much cancer was still in me. In the meantime, I could not work and unemployment had ended. The doctors decided to open me completely up from neck to hip again after just finally healing from the first surgery and check every organ then to wake up from surgery, after 5 hours later to find out they took a lot of things out of me including a lot of my colon. My body started to heal where I was cut open but I ended up with bowel issues that has me doubled over in pain and making trips to the bathroom so many times a day for the past year I have not been able to work since I can’t sit long enough to depositions or do courtroom work without having to head to a bathroom. I can barely leave the house. Without being able to work, I have become one of the medically bankrupt which I would never have dreamed I would have ended up in this position. Currently doing 3 types of chemo at each treatment. Considering a colostomy will give me back some quality of life and I will be able to take work again and get back on my feet literally and financially once I get past the chemo treatments. I sincerely need help with treatments, prescriptions, back rent, back utility bills, back car payments and back insurance. I appreciate your help.
