Michael touched the lives of so many and was such a caring individual. As one friend stated, “he was one of a kind and we are going to miss his weird, goofy, big hearted self more that he will ever know!!!” As his niece said, “He made an impact on everyone he met.” He inspired people, spread kindness, and was gifted in so many ways. Some of his passions were music, drumming, his job as an X-ray technologist, sports, nature, animals, photography, and art. He loved his family and friends
So many have asked how they can help. To honor his giving spirit, we are going to start a fundraising campaign that will hopefully get to a level to launch a scholarship program. At a minimum, we will donate to programs that he worked in and will look for recipients who encompass similar caring traits. Michael's life was cut short, but his charitable, loving ways can live on via his organ donation and through scholarship opportunities in his honor.
Since I am just at the beginning of my research for how to move forward, I don't have specifics but I will adjust this page as needed in the future. We have ideas of hosting a fundraising golf tournament, maybe putting fundraising jars at his tattoo places and/or places he frequented. I'd welcome any help in fundraising efforts. Monies raised via these types of events can be direct deposited once I have an account set up. I should have that in the next couple days. I want to minimize set up costs so we can maximize the benefits for others.
Thank you to his cousin Sandra for nudging me in this direction and for all who offered to help! We will start with a $20,000 goal but really hope to get to $50,000 in order to have a sustaining scholarship program in place.
