My name is Adam Dao, and Riley is not just my teammate, he’s one of my closest friends. I’ve watched him show up with unmatched strength both on and off the field, but the battle he’s facing now is far beyond anything most of us could imagine.
Riley is a 27-year-old father, fighting leukemia while trying to keep life stable for his two daughters: Cristal, 16, and her younger half-sister, Brittney, 10. He adopted Cristal after stepping in during her time in foster care, offering her the first real sense of safety and consistency she’d ever known. He didn’t wait until life was easy or convenient. He just loved her.
When Brit needed a home, Riley stepped in again - this time while undergoing cancer treatment. He never hesitated. He was determined to keep the sisters together and to give both girls the family they deserve.
Since his diagnosis, Riley has spent countless nights in the hospital. There are weeks where he’s in and out more than he’s home. Still, he continues to parent, to protect, and to provide - fighting every single day with a quiet bravery most people will never see. However, behind that strength is a reality that’s incredibly hard: crushing medical bills, missed work, and the constant weight of trying to hold a family together while battling cancer.
I’ve seen Riley be the guy who shows up for everyone else. Now he needs us. He needs help staying afloat. He needs to know he doesn’t have to carry this alone.
Your donation will help cover medical expenses, transportation to and from treatment, and basic costs of living so Riley can continue to focus on what matters most: his health and his family. Even if you can’t give financially, sharing this means the world.
Let’s show Riley and his family that love shows up. That they’re not in this fight alone.
With everything in me, thank you.
