Mila's Miracle

Donation protected
Mila Grace Modrzynski made her grand appearance on 7/21/2017, weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces and 19 inches long. Tiffany, Nic, Noah and Quinn were elated to welcome this beautiful bundle of joy into their family. As sweet Mila entered our lives there was an overwhelming sense of sheer happiness and gratefulness. In what seemed like an instant everything suddenly changed and our happiness quickly shifted to worry and fear. Within an hour of Mila's birth, she was rushed off by the pediatrician as her color was not looking quite right. The doctor noticed a murmur, but with Mila's quickly declining health we knew that there was more to it. After several scans and communication with a team at the University of Michigan, we learned that baby Mila had a congenital heart defect called Aortic Stentosis, where baby Mila has an area of her heart that is too small to adequately pump blood to her tiny body. Mila was in critical condition, but was stabilized for transport to the University of Michigan. Due to bad weather, Mila was transported via Life Suppprt Travel Ambulance. Baby Mila needed help keeping her blood pressure under control and needed help breathing and she was subsequently intubated and placed on a breathing machine to help her. She arrived at the University of Michigan shortly after Midnight on July 22nd, Mila's condition was deemed critical as she was too unstable for heart surgery, our sweet girl was placed on a heart/lung bypass machine called an ECMO, this machine helps oxygenate her blood and allowed her body to rest. Shortly after 5:00 pm, Mila was brought into surgery, which lasted 5 hours. Mila came out of surgery stable, but quickly began to decline as her heart, lungs and kidneys were working way too hard for her tiny body. Mila is not at all out of the woods, she will need many more surgeries, kidney dialysis and a lengthy stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Tiffany had a C-Section less that 2 days ago and she was expecting a normal delivery and healthy baby, instead her family was catapulted into a spiral of events and emotions. I'm creating this page in an effort to alleviate the financial burden they will soon face, between the medical bills for our princess warrior, to the cost of lodging and food. Let's rally for this beautiful family and show them how loved and supported they truly are. Whether you are offering prayers, words of encouragement or financial help they are all equally appreciated. Love and hugs to you all!!! ~Michelle
