End of Grade 5th grade DC Trip

As 5th graders our students will learn about our government this year.  To reinforce what they learn in class the fifth grade teachers are planning a end of grade trip to Washington DC.  In visiting several historic sites (White House, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, Washingon Monument, Smithsonian) the students will be able to make connections across all curriculum areas. Our students are from backgrounds where most have never travelled outside of Tarboro, NC and so in making this trip it would mean more to them than to other students who have travelled outside the city where they live.  The trip will also help prepare our students to live in the world outside of school, it will provide inspiration by showing them they can be successful.  Our students would be extremely grateful to any and all who are willing and able to assist us in making this trip possible for them.
