Love for Micaela

The Sanchez family.   Some of you know us, but a lot of you probably don’t.  For the ones that do know us and know our character and the person that we lived our life to be, know that what we say here is not easy for us to do.  For the ones who are just finding out who we are I hope you realize the same.  We are devout believers in God and our faith in Him has guided us every step of the way until now.  And while we never have been acceptable people of charity, it is in our unbreakable belief that we have now been put in a position to hold that same belief.  We hope in others and through God and their hearts, ask for any help in which they may be able to provide.

Our daughter Micaela was born 2 months ago, after many diagnostics during the pregnancy and a possible still birth. She was born with a congenital heart disease and we’ve learned the following medical terms from her doctors when they said she also has an aorta coarctation, ventricular septal defect (VSD), which is a hole in the bottom of her heart.  The left side of her heart is also smaller than the right which makes challenging for her to grow due to the strength she has to put for her heart to work.  She had surgery a week after birth to fix the coarctation, and then another open heart surgery one month later to fix the VSD.  After the VSD was fixed, she enter into heart block which is one of the risks of the surgery and had to have another surgery to place a permanent pacemaker in order for her heart to function adequately.  You do not imagine how hard this was for us, but it was out of our hands and had to accept it.  She is still fighting and recovering from these surgeries, but requires help breathing and needs oxygen due to a possible obstruction in her airways.  She has not been able to gain much weight as the doctors have hoped and this is leaving us scared and with no other option than this; not to mention we do not have a date as when we will be able to take her home, as we are still in New Haven Children's Hospital.

We have been with Micaela night and day since she was born. My wife had to take a leave of absence from her job (uncertain if she will return, since our princess will require special care).  We all know that once you get pass maternity leave and deplete all of your vacation time, that it’s either come back or else. Combine this with the fact that I have been laid off from my job.  We also have a 7 years old daughter (that has taken the situation some what well) that hasn’t been home at all since we are staying at the Ronald McDonald house in New Haven; which have serve us as a home away from home. I would love to reassure her that we are trying everything in our power to still provide for all of us. With no reliable income at this time, the bills mounting and no guarantee of what the outcome will be regarding the extreme challenge we are facing; we have to admit that we need your help.  We ask you all, please if you can in any way possible find it in your hearts to help us out in any way, we will be eternally grateful and forever in your debts.

Again this is not a moment we are proud of and we hate to ask for this kind of help, but we have no other alternative. If you could help us in any way. We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, may God bless you and multiply all of your help.  Keep our family in your prayers.
