Today, our lives changed in an instant.

While traveling, I experienced a sudden, life-threatening medical emergency and delivered our baby 9 weeks early by emergency surgery. What began as a normal day quickly became a critical situation requiring immediate intervention. Due to the level of care our premature baby needed, we were air transported out of state so our baby could receive specialized NICU care.

Everything happened incredibly fast. In a matter of hours, our family was facing an unexpected premature birth, emergency hospitalization, recovery from major surgery, and an extended stay far from home while our baby receives ongoing medical care. We are deeply grateful to the medical teams whose swift actions saved lives and continue to care for our baby.

As I recover from major surgery and remain out of work, our family is now navigating significant unexpected medical expenses, loss of income, travel and lodging costs, care arrangements for our older child while I remain hospitalized and our family is displaced, and ongoing household bills that do not pause during medical emergencies. NICU care often involves an extended and unpredictable timeline, followed by continued medical needs after discharge.

This GoFundMe is intended to help cover medical-related expenses, time away from work, travel and living costs while we remain close to our baby, childcare and family support needs, and the ongoing care associated with recovery and caring for a premature infant, both during hospitalization and after returning home.
