Hi, my name is Amelia

I'm a stable hard working single mother of two. My daughter is finishing her first year of middle school and my son is working and trying to get on his own feet. I've been working at the same job for almost ten years now, and living and paying rent at the same residence for about six years.

Three weeks ago, the three of us were heading up north to spend the weekend with family in upstate NY to do a long awaited memorial for a relative near and dear to us who passed away last year during the pandemic.

About three hours into our trip, my car broke down on the highway. We had to pay a $130 for a tow to the closest mechanic which was in the middle of nowhere and then we had to pay $47 for an Uber to take us to enterprise car rental. We found out on Monday that the timing chain went, and the cost of the repair is more than the value of the car.

Sadly, I had no choice but to say goodbye to our family's only car. We then drove the rental car 3 hours back home with all our belongings.

Since then, my son and I have been struggling to get to our jobs.

We have had to get to work by bus, ubers, taxis, helpful friends, and walking.

The past few weeks have been real stressful because of the unfortunate circumstance, I blew through a lot of money including June's rent on these alternative methods of transportation.

I've come to realize that I need help to get a car. I have a very tight budget.

I only have enough money for rent and the rest of my bills, if I have to continue paying for transportation then I will soon find myself falling behind.

I'm looking to raise money within the next couple months to get a decent certified used car and pay a few months insurance in advance, so I can catch up with my rent.

My family and I will be extremely grateful for any donations given.
