Hello everyone, my name is Brittney. This is hard for me to write because I never thought I'd be in this situation. And I am asking for rental assistance help. As we also got an eviction notice last week and when to be in court this month.
I'm 33 years old, until about 2020, I was an able-bodied working adult. Throughout my adult life, I've always been able to support myself. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis in 2018. Which started in my hands and wrists and progressed to my whole body. During the height of the pandemic, end of September 2020 I contracted covid, and despite seeking help multiple times for how sick I was in October, I was told to go home and quarantine. All I remember is after Halloween it was all a blur. Come to find out my body became septic, and I fell into a coma. With my organs failing, I was life flighted from Springfield to the ER then ICU in Salem for a couple days. To which I stayed in Salem for about 2 weeks having to relearn to swallow rough hard foods and even having to relearn to walk. Around the same time, I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So I had to learn how to calculate how much insulin to give myself and carbs to eat. It was a lot. Also the ventilator caused scarring on my esophagus, requiring surgery in 2022 to fix my airway. I had tracheal stenosis. Due to everything that happened in a short time, my body couldn't heal fast enough because of my autoimmune disease, and I became legally disabled. Which I finally got approved for in June of 2025.
Sorry for the long explanation. I just wanted people to have the backstory of how I got to where I'm at. My boyfriend's been trying his best to keep everything afloat, but unfortunately, his work slowed up for a few weeks on top of us having vehicle issues as my car got repoed and me having to travel to Idaho and my reservation in Nevada as I had deaths in the family. And we know how gas prices have been lately. It was causing us to fall behind on rent. I appreciate any suggestions people may have, but we've already reached out to social workers and local churches. I am trying to work with my OHP insurance but those who know that crap can take a while. If it wasn't due to my medical issues and numerous doctors I have here in Eugene/Springfield, we wouldn't be so concerned about relocating. Just with my upcoming surgeries and medical stuff that I have going on, my body can't handle a move right now. My mom has helped as much as she could. And my family doesn't have the financial means to help. His side of the family is broken, basically told us to pray. At this point, literally anything helps, and I genuinely appreciate you for even reading this far. We currently have a about 1 months rent plus my disability income I will get on the 5th but our leasing office considers paying on the 5th late. Which will be an extra $100 late fee. I just don't want to get evicted. And have to move. It would be such a whole process to get new apartment and doctors for me.
Ive attached photos of our eviction paper and then how much we owe with May included. Anything helps.
