My vision has been steadily declining, and corrective lenses are no longer effective, making everyday tasks challenging and driving more and more difficult. I was fortunate to be able to have a full exam done at Bascom Palmer, thanks to the Ryan White Foundation. I was told I've got cataracts in both eyes and the experts there recommend surgery. I was relieved to find that Ryan White will cover the surgery, but was disappointed when I found that I need a special lens for each eye that is not covered. My hopes were dashed when I was told the price, $3,200 for both eyes. Those who know me know I've been through a lot to get back on my feet, but at this point, that amount isn't an extravagant expenditure, it's an impossible one.
