Hi and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My name is Sloane Joie Trugman and I'm to-the-moon excited to share my news:
I've been accepted to attend Hive, a Global Leaders Program, in San Francisco (October 6-9)! Out of more than 2,500 applicants from across the globe, only 50 participants were selected!
This is a first-ever experience for me—to be welcomed into a program where I get to show up fully as myself, in my own authentic voice, not hiding from my incredible stories, and share my mission with others.
I've always been doing something quite simple: asking others who they are. And for a long time, did this alone, but not anymore.
While on this path toward work that results in real cultural changes, you’re the first in the integral first step: openness and community.
In February 2014, I tried to reverse engineer my recruitment into the CIA's Clandestine Service to lean closer into discovery of gaps and ways to improve those gaps. In chasing the Defense Department’s technological infrastructure, diving deep into the history of operations, development and warfare strategies, and closely observing the tech and start-up community, I realized that we weren’t using the intelligence, IT systems, programs, and populations to advocate and care for our Earth communities, let alone for our coexistence into future generations.
Since, I've been actively lobbying and advocating probono around changes within the big data, cyber security, space and satellite communities.
As my research and connecting within and across all aisles of these worlds my newfound knowledge led me to
begin laying the groundwork for an impact infrastructure that addresses and inspires others to engage with the most pressing global issues of our time—like the UN’s declared 17 sustainability goals or Singularity University’s Grand Global Challenges—for a truly action-focused economy to benefit generations to come. I believe that, unlike anything else, the democratization of information can bring about a system of awareness that can fundamentally shift individuals, industries, countries, and benefit our planet...before we leave it. I'm now founding an NGO that works with liaising intelligence to pave a road to accountability.
Hive will help elevate my collaboration, leadership, and sharing skills—in the supportive embrace of community—and get me closer to fulfilling my life’s work. And I come to you today because I cannot get to Hive alone. Minus a $350 scholarship, I must raise the remaining tuition and travel costs.
Over the next 48 hours my goal is to raise just that: $1,400 to cover the remaining tuition ($1,250) and round-trip travel costs from Los Angeles to San Francisco ($150).
Living in openness and in awareness is a choice. And I hope you’ll support this next step in my journey to unleash information (and the power of its visualization) to inspire thinking that encourages action the world over.
