UPDATE 4/11/2022 - Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that donated to help Hannah in her fight against cancer! We more than exceeded our original goal and we did it super quickly! Yay!!! Hannah has been doing a great job sticking to her new diet and just finished her first round of treatments. She decided to shave her head as her hair has been falling out...and looks cute as ever!
Please join us as we raise funds to support Hannah Smagola in her battle against brain cancer. Just before the New Year, Hannah experienced a grand mal seizure in her sleep. Without a previous history of seizures, Hannah consulted with a neurologist. Shocking news followed as an MRI revealed a mass in the right frontal lobe of her brain. Three weeks later, on January 17, Hannah underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor. However, devastating news followed when the tumor’s pathology came back as a cancerous, Grade 4 Astrocytoma. Due to the brain’s anatomy, they can’t be sure they got all of the cancer cells and follow up treatment is required. This week, Hannah began a six-week round of chemo and radiation to target the remaining cancer cells. Then, she will cycle on and off chemo for the rest of the year.
At 25 years old, Hannah is known for her sunny smile and outgoing personality. She is a take charge kind of person, who everyone goes to with their problems. Hannah is not used to being the patient, she is typically the caregiver. Starting off as an STNA, Hannah has worked at Regina Health Center, a Catholic nursing home, in various capacities for eight years now. She helps care for and is loved by the residents. Hannah has also worked as an EMT at music festivals. Regina recently held a prayer service for Hannah. You can check that out here if you're interested...
We are hoping that the money raised will ease any financial worries and enable Hannah to focus solely on her healing. Prayers, well wishes, and donations are all appreciated to aid Hannah through her treatment.
Let's all rally around Hannah and shower her with love!
Many thanks!!
