Anjali is a brilliant, first-generation Master’s student in Preventive Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. Raised by a single mother in India, she came to the United States to create better opportunities for herself and her family.

At UC Davis, Anjali has made meaningful contributions to autism research in the Giulivi Lab while also working as a teaching assistant for an upper-division physiology course.

In 2025, Anjali received a devastating diagnosis: a paraovarian tumor. Since then, she has undergone surgery and multiple rounds of treatment, none of which have been successful so far. As a result, she now faces additional procedures and testing to rule out the possibility of cancer, each bringing further emotional, physical, and financial strain.

Because she has no extended family to rely on and limited medical coverage as a graduate student, Anjali has paid for her medical care entirely out of her own savings to avoid burdening her mother. As an international student, her tuition and student debt are already significantly higher, and diverting funds to medical treatment has left her unable to keep up with her loan payments.

The tumor and ongoing treatments have caused months of fatigue and pain. Despite this, Anjali has continued working as a teaching assistant. However, she has had little energy left for basic daily tasks such as cooking or household responsibilities, let alone making progress on her Master’s research project.

Anjali urgently needs your support. Her medical expenses have created a $30,000 shortfall, and the financial strain has left her $40,000 behind on student loan payments. In total, she is seeking $70,000 in assistance to help her stabilize her health, finances, and academic future.
