this is my story.
Im Jo, I live in Perth with my 2 kids. I left NZ 20 odd yrs ago, and I'm still here!
My mum and dad live in Christchurch, New Zealand.
My parents are very cool people, all my memories are happy and good., and they took very good care of my sister and I. We were never rich, but we did have steak every week!
Growing up with those awkward teenage years and countless friends, our doors were always open to whoever, anyone in need, anyone who needed somewhere to stay cause things were a bit shit at that time. Mum and always provided, didn't matter who you were or where you were from, warmth, love, food, shelter....always!!!
They are still like it to this day, the back door is always wide open, people just sing out and walk in, it's pretty cool.
Fast forward, the Christchurch earthquake left my parents in the 'red zone', meaning they had to pack up their life, and move on, and get on.
Was bloody tough going, but they did it, battlers, always!!!!
A couple yrs after the devastation, dad a stroke, now this guy hadn't had a sick day in his career, I don't ever recall!! A spray painter, he only stopped when he had the stroke too!!
Dads rehabilitation, helped but he never made a full recovery,. Still he kept on, going , determined, even mowing the lawns with a push mower and one arm!!!!
Our latest and saddest is some nasty melanoma, half his ear was removed last week and we are waiting for results of some biopsys taken from his neck.
My plan
To go home, with the kids, surprise my parents(the last 2times I went home were for such sad events), hire a camper van, and take a trip of a lifetime together!!!!
Oh and to buy a load of wood!!!
I have a little savings, I work as a carer, and work bloody hard!!!
Im a one income family, and yes it's tough going, always.
I want a chance to show my appreciation, I love my parents to pieces... ,
Mum says ' he is getting tired', .
Dad, please don't give up!!!!
Dad turns 81 on the 1st July, we would love to be there.
Please help send us home
Thanks
Jo, Stevie-Jo and Chad xxxxx
PS The lady in the top pic with mum and dad is one of my oldest and dearest friends.
