43 Green Cheek Conures

Donation protected
My story begins with 9 Green Cheek conures that were saved by a friend named Chandra Dunbar. She has a seperate fund set up for them as they are with her.
This is a story about the ones she had to leave behind. The other 42.
These Green Cheeks were in a basement in a breeders home. He was going out of business. He had them grouped into family units. We were going to get the birds directly from him, however before we could a flipper swooped in and grabbed them. The price for them more than doubled. BUT NOW it was a mission. There was no way I was going to let these precious birds be split up. The flipper threw them all in one cage. We begged for funds and came up with enough to buy 30 of them. That left 12 behind. I couldn't let that happen. So I used more of my own money and paid for the last 12. We got them all.
They are now at a rescue in Michigan where they will begin to get some sunlight and be fed a wonderful diet. Marie, who runs the rescue is going to try and pair the familes back up. This will take time. Once that is done each of the families will be taken to different rescues. Just too many birds for one rescue. By getting all of them and taking the time to pair them back up, we feel we are giving them the best chance of survival.
The flipper was kind enough to throw in a turquoise conure for free. She is beat up and seizing. How kind of him to let us have her for free. (Sarcasm)
I do not support ransoming birds and will probably never do it again. But I just couldn't let this happen. We will need additional funds for vetting and food for all these babies.
If you want to help us please do so. I understand if you choose not to help. It is a cause that I simply could not walk away from. At this point we are flying by the seat of our pants.
I must say thank you to those that have already given, offered to help and especially to Chandra Dunbar, Marti Anders, Brandy Dabe and Marie Charon Crowley as they are on the scene doing all the dirty work. I am simply too far away. To those of you that are going to help us, I want to say thank you in advance.
