Tammy's Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tammy. First off let me tell you I am special to begin with. I was born with mesomylic dysplasia and have had my fair share of complex orthopaedic surgeries and hospitalisations to straighten and elongate my shortened limbs. After all that I went through I am proud to say that I was living a blissful, happy and independent life in West Hollywood Los Angeles working as an Occupational Therapist to a wonderful team of hand surgeons, doctors and other healthcare providers. Then the unthinkable happened – on 31/12/15 I suffered a right hemisphere haemorrhagic stroke which paralyzed me on the left side of my body. I am on the road to recovery but unfortunately my medical insurance for aggressive rehabilitation is coming to an end. As a healthcare practitioner I am well aware of the importance of intensive therapy and realize the next 6 months are the most critical in my recovery. Unfortunately as per my insurance coverage I am being discharged from hospital a mere 30 days after my stroke. At this point my plan (or as I see, my only available option) is to leave my life and home in California that I have known for the past 15 years and with it all of my friends, support network, colleagues, and most sadly my beloved adopted cat Timothy for Florida to be with my elderly parents who are my primary caregivers. I would need to pay out of pocket for whatever therapy can be arranged and afforded. I am extremely motivated and am more determined than I have ever been in my whole life to recover and regain enough strength and independence to be able to live my life self-sufficiently enough to not be a burden on anyone including and especially my parents. I would appreciate any donations at all to help pay for my rehab so that I can make as much progress as possible during the next few months of this important recovery phase. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
