Hi, I am reaching out on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law.
On July 3rd, their 2-year-old precious Amelia suffered a thirty minute seizure, and was later intubated and diagnosed with Periventricular Nodular Heterotopia(PVNH)—a disorder that causes seizures. During the course of her treatment, one of her lungs collapsed. Currently, Amelia is still intubated as a result of needing to stabilize her lung functions.
On top of this unexpected diagnosis, Katelin is expecting their second child at the end of July.
Both Anthony and Katelin are paraprofessionals that work daily with students who are medically fragile, intellectually disabled, or have Autism. Due to this, one, or both, will have to resign from their summer positions at their school. With the medical expenses, hospital visits, and a newborn on the way, this unexpected medical emergency is not only traumatizing for the family, but is an unforeseen financial hardship.
Additionally, Amelia's long-term needs are still unknown. She will require follow-up care and evaluations from neurology, speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
Amelia is the happiest, sweetest, and most loving 2-year-old you could ever meet. She loves to sing and dance, especially to the cha cha slide, scream her ABC’s, count to 10, and chase around her older cousins.
Anthony and Katelin will continue to do everything it takes to make sure all of Amelia’s medical needs are taken care of. They are wonderful parents who love their little girl more than anything.
Any support, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will go toward Amelia’s care, baby essentials, and any medical expenses during this challenging time.
Thank you for helping the Aquinos stay strong for both of their little ones. Please keep Amelia in your thoughts and prayers.
