Hello friends
As many of you know, our friend and colleague Sally Bustamante was just diagnosed with breast cancer.
Sally has worked for Denver Public Schools for 38 years! So many of you have known her for a very long time and know what a loving and caring friend she is to all of us.
On January 22nd, 2020, Sally had surgery to remove her Gallbladder. It was during this time that she was diagnosed with a type of breast cancer called Invasive Duct Carcinoma and 4-N Calcification Grade 2. She's already had several doctor's appointments and tests and has begun to incur medical bills that are out of pocket and outside what insurance will pay.
In the weeks to come, she still needs an MRI, and to meet wth the Plastic Surgeon, (she expects the surgery will be in late March,) They have recommended radiation, re-evaluation and possibly more radiation after that. Once they remove the cancer, it will be tested to determine if she also needs chemotherapy in addition to radiation. Sally could be out of the office for up to 12 weeks.
Currently Sally has $1,675.00 in out of pocket expenses. She met with the Cancer Financial Counselor and it was mentioned there would be some costs for the radiation, and possibly chemo if needed, that number will grow upwards of $5,000. To help alleviate some of the financial stress, her team has started this GoFundMe page. We will update the goal amount to reflect her incoming out of pocket expenses as those happen.
If you'd like to contribute financially to Sally's medical fund, Sally would be, and is, very grateful. Please feel free to share this page with others.
Thank you for your generosity.
We love you Sally!
