Cyclone Ditwah has struck Sri Lanka with catastrophic force—leaving behind widespread destruction, deadly landslides, and massive flooding. As of the latest reports, the death toll has risen into the hundreds, and over 1.4 million people have been affected, including more than 275,000 children. With roads blocked, communication disrupted, and entire communities cut off, the true scale of devastation is still unfolding.

My classmates and I are raising funds to support families and children in Sri Lanka who have been devastated by Cyclone Ditwah. The storm has caused deadly floods and landslides, displaced thousands, and left many without access to food, clean water, or basic necessities.

Next month, we will be traveling to Sri Lanka for a study abroad program with a group of fellow students and professors from SUNY Cortland. During our time there, we plan to directly purchase and distribute essential supplies—such as food, hygiene items, and educational materials—to affected communities, or donate the funds to trusted local organizations providing emergency relief.
