My name is Devony House; I am from Kincardine, Ontario and I am the producer of Trees. I am making this GoFundMe on behalf of Isaac Stacy, writer and director of Trees. A mission statement from Isaac:

Hello to everyone reading! My name is Isaac Stacey; I am from Elora, Ontario, Canada, and I have wanted to make films for as long as I can remember.

There was always something about cinema that I absolutely adored: the stories that were told through the big screen and how many talented filmmakers would craft their vision into a project they could proudly share with others. It has always been a dream of mine to do the same thing: take all the strange and wonderful stories my head was constantly thinking of and put them into the visual medium of film. My creative drive has always been high growing up, so I did what I could with the resources I had, hoping it would get me somewhere. This often meant films that were shot only by myself, with me starring in them as well; aside from my mother holding the camera, I didn’t have much help from others, as I was the only one in my hometown passionate about making movies, no matter how small they were.

I started attending Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Film and Television program in 2022, where I have been involved in many school-related film projects. However, I still wanted to make something that was uniquely my own. When the second year of my program ended, I began writing “Trees,” a short, surrealist film that utilizes non-linear narrative structures I’ve wanted to explore in my work for a long time. The film is relatively obscure, with a plot line that does not stick to a typical structure; the main focus is on a man trying to figure out his path in life, who is hired to find a prized possession in a large forest. The themes focus on existential topics such as failure, the human condition, capitalism, growing up and much more. I have successfully put together a crew comprised of my talented friends and classmates from Sheridan, and we have been planning for the production and shoot of “Trees” during August before the school year at Sheridan College starts again.
