Help replace stolen music equipment ❤️

Hi my name is Laura Friedmann and I'm reaching out to the community to help raise some funds for my friends and their band in Thunder Bay. Please read more about what happened below. Many thanks in advance for helping out, your contribution means a lot ❤️

On October 23rd, Slugbate’s rehearsal space, near Thunder Bay’s East End neighborhood, was broken into and had over $4000 of music equipment stolen. Slugbate is an up-and-coming Thunder Bay Indigenous metal band. They are made up of three freelance artists and musicians who enjoy working within the community. Having their incredibly important gear stolen at such an early part in their career is disheartening. What makes the situation even worse is that the gear was generously offered for them to use for rehearsals and shows by their close friends. The bass was purchased years ago by a good friend who cherished the instrument, and the pedal board and pedals belonged to another close friend who spent years collecting each pedal. The loss of this gear hits hard.

The members of Slugbate have written the following statement:

“Despite everything, we feel so grateful for the tremendous amount of support from our community. We were shocked to see so many people sharing our posts about the lost gear, and felt the love from people’s well wishes. And something that we were not expecting was how many people offered their gear for us to borrow so that we could continue on playing. The support we’ve received has truly been a blessing during this time. To all of you reading this right now: YOU ROCK.

It’s been over two weeks since our gear has been stolen, and we’ve had no luck at the pawn shops and searching the online marketplaces. We’re coming to terms with the fact that we might not find our stolen gear. Unfortunately, losing the bass and the pedals all at once is putting us at a massive setback. We simply do not have the funds to repurchase the gear. After much consideration, we’ve decided to move forward with a fundraiser (or a slugraiser..) We understand that many people are going through tough times right now, and we do not want anyone to put themselves out, so please only donate if you’re able to. Even sharing is greatly appreciated.

All donations will help us repurchase the gear. We’ll continue to search pawn shops and online marketplaces, and if by chance we end up finding the stolen gear, the money raised through this fundraiser will be re-distributed to mutual aid (with receipts to show as proof)

We will not forget the support we’ve received, and continue to receive. Our hearts are so full of love for our community and we will give back in whatever way we can.
