Hi, my name is Nicole and I am fundraising for my sister Jessica.
My sister is a registered nurse. She graduated in December 2020 with an Associates (RN) from Germanna Community College. She is enrolled at University of Mary Washington getting her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and suppose to graduate this December 2022.
Jessica works as needed at Dogwood Village as a charge nurse. She also works at Germanna Community College as adjunct clinical faculty and works with DSS teaching DCA classes in Orange County.
On August 6, my baby sister drove herself to the ER. She was having chest pains. She left my 6 year old nephew with my mother. While running tests at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, the doctors found a 8 mm mass behind her heart , an issue with her lymph nodes and lesions on her lung.
Time line:
• Stayed in MJ hospital until 8/10 and then transferred to UVA
• AT UVA running tests, MJ didn’t pull enough tissue from her heart to test so she had another biopsy
• Came home 8/12 and back in the ER again for shortness of breath and chest pain and back home 8/15
• 8/22 extracted more tissue
• 8/27 in ICU, found a blood clot in her lung
• 8/29 drained a liter of fluid off her left lung, and they continued to drain the fluid until 9/6/22 when the doctors give her the results. She has a rare health condition called Mediastinal Lymphangioma. UVA has only performed the procedure once.
• 9/8 the surgeon attempted the procedure, but could not find the leakage and she is informed that she will need to go to the University of Pennsylvania for the procedure, which they have performed over 22 times.
-when a bed is available, Jessica will be transported to Pennsylvania.
With all of this happening, she is not able to see her son physically because of the hospital policy, she wasn’t able to see him off for his first day of school, she is still completing school work when she can, as a single mother and now out of work nurse she is seeking help.
No donation is too small. Thank you and please share!
