Tuesday evening, our dog was hit by a car on our road. While I finished farm chores with her, she picked the wrong time to dart out chasing another animal that she spotted.
Witnessing it all, I can’t believe she is alive.
Her vet visit showed chest & lung contusion (bruising of her chest and lungs) and a displaced hip. This will require surgery so they can put the bone back into place, heal ligaments and eventually get her walking again. Fortunately, since she is young, surgery results sound promising.
She has a great deal of road rash, mainly on her legs, paws and head. She will likely require some stitches but they are hopeful that she will heal naturally over time.
The emergency exam after the accident, was a preliminary review to check her stability and assess for injuries. She will need additional assessment, likely consult with an orthopedic specialist and absolutely some type of surgery.
Our world has been turned upside down since mid-September.. Greg injured on duty and healing through being immobilized. He has made improvement himself, is thankfully still home, but will be putting in extra effort carrying Luna where she needs to go.
We’ve chosen to set any pride aside, and ask for help. Treading water as is, we need to come up with funding for surgery within the next few days for her. Any amount helps us get closer to our goal. Thank you, from all of us.
