Meet JENNY BESS…
A 36 year old mother of FIVE children – ages 11, 9, 6, 5 and 3 MONTHS.
A LOVING wife of 13 years to husband, John.
A FRIEND to all with the kindest of hearts.
A few weeks after giving birth to her fifth child, Jenny was suffering from some digestive issues and then realized that there was blood in her stool. At her six week appointment, she discussed it with her OB and he referred her to a GI specialist who scheduled her for a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, they found cancer in her colon and sent her to a surgeon who was hopeful that they would quickly be able to remove the cancer and added her to his surgery schedule. An ensuing pelvic CT showed the cancer saturating her LIVER. They ordered a chest CT, but were confident her lungs were clear. Shortly after surgery, the doctors once again had bad news…it has spread to her LUNGS.
THREE MONTHS after meeting her FIFTH child, JENNY BESS is trying to maneuver through her new life with a diagnosis of STAGE FOUR COLON CANCER that has saturated her LIVER and spread to her LUNGS. Over a foot of her colon was removed and a port placed into her chest in order to start chemotherapy treatments that will occur every TWO WEEKS for the REST OF HER LIFE. Those who are closest to Jenny know that she already has more than her share of HEARTACHE. She has fought with QUIET DIGNITY demons that would paralyze any normal human. She is already an example of STRENGTH and COURAGE, but reality is… Jenny has a long, hard road before her.
