But instead of applying for jobs or checking out grad school catalogs, he's fighting a brain tumor -- his SECOND one.
Tim was diagnosed at age 12 with a very rare brain tumor, and his medical team wasn't sure if he'd be able to beat it. He had multiple brain surgeries, and intensive radiation to his still-developing brain. We even packed him and his sister off on a Make-A-Wish trip.
But made it, thanks to his toughness, his family, and excellent doctors.
However, that radiation back then has, in all likelihood, led to this new tumor. It's deep in his brain stem, and we're still waiting on some test results before a course of treatment is finalized. It will almost certainly include another brain surgery for a biopsy, then radiation and chemotherapy.
Tim is a strong, brilliant, funny and loving young man, an incredible son, brother, grandson and boyfriend. In the past few years, while still a full-time college student, he helped children facing life-threatening illnesses by volunteering with Dreams and Wishes of Tennessee, a non-profit organization that grants wishes for local children with cancer. He has raised thousands for those children and helped grant several wishes.
To ease the stress on his moms, girlfriend, family, and friends in sharing updates, we've created this page, and we'll post regular updates. We welcome you to share your thoughts and love for Tim and his family here; messages such as that are so important during such difficult times.
