40kms for 40yrs
On Feb 8th i will be walking 40kms for my 40th birthday and raising funds for OCAGI.
Why OCAGI?
Oesophageal cancer is the fastest growing cancer in Australia, at a rate of 600% growth. This is expected to double over the next 10 years.
Unfortunately, when my dad was diagnosed we found there was very little information available about oesophageal cancer, no support groups in NSW and little funding for oesophageal cancer research.
OCAGI's website, www.ocagi.org, is the only website in Australia that solely provides information about oesophageal cancer and with symptoms such as heartburn, indigestion and reflux can be very easily overlooked by patients and medical practitioners.
OCAGI has three main objectives:
1. Educating the community about oesophageal cancer
2. Raising funds for targeted oesophageal cancer research
3. Providing support to the community for those diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and their families.
OCAGI is a non for profit organisation and all donations are tax deductible.
The biggest gift I could receive for my birthday would be for you to consider making a donation, sharing this event and bringing your walking shoes to join me on Fingal bike track from 4.30am to walk as much or as little as you can. This will be followed by bbq in the park upon completion of the 40kms around 1pm to celebrate my 40th birthday.
I can’t wait to see you there xx
