4 yr old Zeke needs our help

My name is Desiree Dickman, cousin to this little boys Mom (Stacy). This family has been through so much. What his Mom wrote here will give you a glimpse of what the past 4 yrs have been like for Ezekiel and his family. I am helping her reach out to help their precious little boy.

This is our warrior Ezekiel. He just turned 4 years old. We call him Zeke. He was born with gastroschisis which resulted in short gut syndrome. Zeke lost 75% of his small intestine, 25% large, part of his colon along with his valves. He was also born with a hole in his heart that has to be frequently monitored. Due to the many complications and a difficult blood clotting issue, Zeke has required 24 surgeries so far. Yes, 24! He has spent most of his life in the hospital with little time to enjoy being the wild, brave little boy he is. Even thru all the scary Dr visits and long hospital stays, and more heartbreaking news he has managed to keep the biggest smile on his face. He reminds us daily just how precious our time together is. After this last routine visit to Denver to see his specialty team, we were informed that Zeke will require 3 more surgeries. We were not prepared for such hard news and have been left scrambling as to find a way back to Denver to get him the help he needs. After so many surgeries, Zeke has been left with minimal access to his major arteries and so any further surgeries are risky for him. Denver has one of the best clinics that specialize in Ezekiel's condition. Unfortunately Montana does not have the equipment and medical staff needed to take care of him. Sadly, Zeke has at times been treated like a guinea pig and experimented on by Drs. unfamiliar with his condition making some of his surgeries unnecessary. Getting back to Denver is an absolute must for Zeke. He will need to stay in the hospital a minimum of 2 weeks after surgery to make sure his body is responding properly to the procedures. We have walked a very thin line with Zekes condition and are devastated to have to put him thru more surgeries and hospital time. We are asking for any support in these difficult times. Both his parents will be out of work trading places in the hospital along with taking care of their other 2 children. Battling insurance has been a nightmare and we have exhausted all of our efforts to get Zeke covered. Appeal after appeal have been denied. All costs for Denver come out of pocket. We are literally drowning in Zekes medical bills. Due to his condition being rare and parts unknown, he has fallen thru the cracks of being covered by insurance. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!! I am beyond thankful for the support in our community and all the positive messages for Zeke.
