The Ultimate Running Challenge for Irish Cancer Society

Back in March 2020 a former navy seal, David goggins, pioneered a challenge for runners to test their physical and mental strength by running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours (4x4x48).

On the 23rd of November I will complete an enhanced version of this challenge by running 4 miles every 4 hours for 72 hours (4x4x72) with all funds going to Irish Cancer Society. So, yes that’s right, I will be running 4 miles every 4 hours over 3 days - too intense? No not all and here’s why:

Having lost my granny to cancer last year and then my dad being diagnosed in that same year, it was a tough time for our family. However, witnessing the physical and mental strength that my family members and other cancer patients have while they fight cancer is truly motivating. To watch them go through their treatment week in and week out, the many hospitals visits they have to do and to still go about their daily lives like nothing is going on is extremely remarkable to see.

That’s why I will test my physical and mental

endurance by completing this challenge and raising as much money I can for Irish cancer society. To further test my limits, it will take part at the end of November when the days are dark, cold and wet!

My granny always praised the care she received from the nurses and the doctors during her treatment and in her last few weeks too. My dad always has such good words and praise to the nurses who have looked after him and given him every bit help he needs during his treatment and appointments! Cancer services are a key need for most families in Ireland and around the world including my own family and friends. All proceeds from your donations will go to Irish cancer society which they can use for vital services for cancer patients .

Anyone is welcome to join me on one or multiple challenge runs that I be will doing. I will post the start location of each run on my instagram and give daily updates throughout the challenge.
