Hi everyone, my name is Michelle Blair and Robin is my daughter. Robin was first diagnosed with Cervical Cancer April of 2021 right in the thick of the C19 Pandemic. She went through all the chemo and radiation treatments by herself, but she is a trooper and came out on the other side in full remission February 2022. Fast forward to October 17, 2023, when Robin was then diagnosed with recurrent metastatic cervical cancer with lymph node involvement (this was about 9 months after Robin began noticing some side effects that she was adamant they keep checking.) With radiation off the table, Robin began an intensive regime of Chemo and Immunotherapy treatments every 3 weeks for an initial 8 treatments. She was declared to be in partial remission May 2024, with the caveat that she would need scans every 8 weeks for the foreseeable future to monitor her condition.
In September she began to experience some serious side effects from the chemo in relation to her bladder and kidneys. On her birthday, September 17th, she had to go to the emergency room - and it ended up with an emergency surgery for "Interval placement of bilateral internal ureteral stents." In layman's terms, both her ureters (tubes connecting kidneys to the bladder) were both completely blocked preventing her kidneys from draining into her bladder and surgeons had to place stents to help open those tubes. Unfortunately, those stents failed - the tissue that surrounds the ureters has hardened (similar to the way cement hardens) it is causing pressure to collapse the tubes and in this case the stents as well. Robin had to have a second emergency surgery to have "Percutaneous bilateral nephrostomy tubes" placed temporarily to relieve the blockage in her kidneys. Robin has experienced many other side effects which are greatly hindering her quality of life.
Robin had a PET scan done on September 17, 2024, and the results were not as positive as we have been praying for. Her disease has progressed, and the current plan will be immunotherapy treatments every three weeks (no chemo right now since Robin is dealing with so many side effects from the last rounds.) Throughout all this Robin has maintained a positive attitude and her smile lights up a room! I could not be prouder of her than I have been watching her handling such a challenging time of her life!
She has been very sick with all this treatment, in and out of the hospital repeatedly, and has been unable to work at all since the beginning of September and was not working as many hours dealing with the many doctors appts prior to that. The medical bills and monthly expenses have been piling up and her savings has been slowly depleted this year while dealing with her illnesses.
We know times have been tough for a lot of people and if you can spare any funds to help Robin, it would be so appreciated. We understand if you cannot and ask if you would please share this request and if so inclined, please pray for Robin.
Thank you so much!!
