Jackie's Backpack Campaign
Donation protected
My name is Jackie Smet. I am an incoming high school senior.
My Backpack Campaign objectives are two-fold: (1) I would like to raise funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies (pencils/notebooks/erasers/glue sticks/crayons); and (2) I plan to distribute these school necessities during a Back-to-School event in August.
My beneficiary will be specifically the low income families at Bahia Village and Emerald Isle Mobile Home Parks located in Garden Grove, CA. These mobile home parks are operated by a non-profit organization, the Caritas Corporation. (Tax ID: 330694603)
These days, backpacks and basic school supplies have become expensive and are usually obtained by parents for their children or by the school or generous donations from the PTA. I have been lucky enough to have parents who provided for me since my kindergarten days. But not all children are fortunate. This is where my project comes in – by raising funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies, and by handing them out directly to children who need them the most. My younger brother and I have volunteered with Caritas before, and I hope to make a more lasting impact through my Backpack Campaign.
