A dear friend of mine is in need of some help. Karyn has become my ‘other mom’ and has been that way ever since the day I met her. She is one of the most incredible humans I know! She has been a foster mom for over 16 years and has welcomed over 100 children into her
home and taken care of them as if they were her own. Karyn has always been a silent warrior working her magic behind the scenes to take care of these precious little people who definitely do not deserve the problems that adults create for them. She would literally give a stranger the shirt off her back.
Monday, June 6th she was taking her foster son (one of the three kids she is currently fostering) to speech therapy and an inexperienced teenage driver went through a red light and hit her pretty much head-on. All the airbags deployed and there was a small engine fire.
Thank God everyone involved survived. Everyone except the Van. It is a total loss. Karyn purchased this van on February 28, 2020,
specifically with the kids she takes care of in mind. It was a Chrysler Pacifica Touring L - Plus and she loved it. It had many safety features - like the "all-around" airbags (that were a lifesaver!) seatback DVD players for the kids, automatic hands-free sliding doors, remote start
(so she could heat it up on cold mornings from her window before putting the kids in it) Her favorite feature of this van is the "stow and go" compartments for transporting all these little people and all their "accessories". Her van was in amazing condition and now is gone. These kids all have therapy sessions they attend and she has to be able to get them to these sessions. The insurance will pay off the bank loan but this is not replacement value of the van and the rental car coverage ends on 6/22. She will have no down payment and can not afford a higher car payment. I would really like to see her and these kids in a new Chrysler Pacifica. I am sure you are aware that current market conditions, as far as the auto industry is concerned, is the worst it has been in over 10 years. Cars are scarce and prices are inflated on the ones that are available.
Karyn, a single mom, has helped so many people over the years from helping families reunite, to adopting one child and working on two more so they will have a "forever family". I wanted to reach out to the community and see if we can offer her some help in caring for these
precious children. I know that not everyone is able to be a foster parent, but we can definitely make a difference in the lives of these
children.
I know we have an ambitious goal but I am firm believer in power of human kindness. This woman has been an angel to me and so many
others and could use some love right now. Anything helps! Please share! Thank you!
