Mission trip to Brazil

Hello. I'm Thandar, fundraising for a unique Mission trip to Brazil (State of Paraiba, Patos and Joao Pessoa) from 26 September to 14 October 2024. This mission trip, organised by the Congregational Federation, CF, is not just a typical journey. It's a one-of-a-kind social-evangelistic mission that aims to foster a deep connection between CF churches in the UK and churches in the northeast of Brazil. The goal is to exchange unique missional practices in serving God and the community, bridging the gap between the two cultures.

During this mission trip, I will have the unique opportunity to engage in various church activities, from sharing faith and testimonies to delivering services and organising social activities in local communities. This includes evangelical sessions in schools and children’s homes. The exchange of best practices between the two churches will provide a rich learning experience, allowing me to understand how the Brazilian church impacts its community through evangelism, social action, and justice. I am excited to bring back these learnings to the UK.

Through this mission trip, I anticipate not only a cultural exchange beyond Burmese and British culture but also significant personal growth. The memories and learnings from this trip will deepen my understanding of serving God and others in their communities. This journey is not just about serving others but also about personal transformation. After the mission trip, I am eager to organise and deliver presentations and sessions based on my experience in Brazil to inspire the CF churches across the UK. I look forward to sharing the strengths and challenges that churches in Brazil face and how they can inspire and bless the CF churches in the UK.

I've just been accredited as a Minister and serve at St. Helier Congregational Church, Morden, London. I've been praying for mission and evangelism experience and found this mission trip opportunity. I am so thrilled to have this first-hand mission experience of my life. I believe that my training and practical experience in ministry, volunteering experience in the community, experience as a Street Pastor and experience of Burmese and British culture will be efficient in sharing and learning from each other in Brazil. The most exciting thing is to learn and grow in faith by sharing our experiences and encountering the love of God in each community. I trust that God has been working miraculously in the Brazilian community, and I am enthusiastic about evangelism there. I am preparing for this mission trip; however, I need finance due to my unexpected personal circumstances. Despite receiving funding from the CWM, CF and Southeast Area CF Churches, I still need £1300 to cover my travel and accommodation expenses. God will richly use me to share my testimony and experience for this evangelism and mission trip. I humbly commit myself to serving the community to glorify His holy name. Therefore, I would much appreciate it if you could sponsor me for my mission trip and contribute to the finances and your powerful prayers. I am willing to hear if you have any mission experience in Brazil that you would like to share too.

I want to commit to raising funds for this fundraising. When I think about what I should do, I have pretty limited activities that I could do. I was thinking about Jesus's ministry then and decided to walk. Jesus is estimated to have walked approximately 3,125 miles during His public ministry, mainly in Galilee and Judea. (Reference from the biblebreathe.com). I am sure I won't be able to walk 20 miles a day like Jesus did in His ministry. However, I decided to walk 100 miles in 30 days from 19th August 2024. I know this is not a big challenge for others, but it is challenging for me with many other duties that I am taking on each day. Usually, I feel nearer to God during my walk by praying, reflecting, and meditating on the word of God. During my walk, I will remember to pray for you, your family, your church, and the community. Jesus commends in Matthew 28:19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
