Dear Friends and Family,
As you may know, I have been a Domestic Engineer for the last 9 years. I have one more year until my last little one starts school. Even though I have a degree, it's time to step out and begin the process of fulfilling my dream. I want to make a life change and work towards becoming a Nurse. I have learned that I love to care for others and would love to make it a life career! I also am looking forward to financially providing for my family the way their future is going to require me to, and I believe working toward this goal will allow me to do just that.
Timing is always key! Especially when it comes to making an educational move of this magnitude! However, after a lot of research, tours, meeting with counselors, and advice I have found the first stepping stone towards the ultimate goal of becoming an RN. In the business of healthcare it's important to get your foot in the door and gain experience by "climbing the ladder" so to speak. I have decided the best way to accomplish this first step is to earn my Medical Assistant Certification. This will give me the ability to get an introductory position in such places as a doctors office, a lab, or even an urgent care setting. This certification/experience will then boost my application into nursing school and give me that leading edge I will need.
The particular program I am very interested in is offered through SDSU (my alma mater), and it begins this September! The classes run at night twice a week, which is perfect being that I still need to be at home during the day for the kiddos.

This program offers a 140 hour classroom/hands-on instruction which includes phlebotomy (drawing blood) and EKG tech. After that, I would get to participate in a 160 hour externship that will provide experience and job opportunities, as well as prepare me for national certification!
I am really excited about moving forward with this next chapter in my life and thrilled to be a great example to my children of what it is to go after your dreams, no matter how hard it may be at times! The thought of putting that RN after my name is very exciting and although the road ahead feels long, I know a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
However, I need to ask for your support in this first step. The cost of this particular program is $3,000. I have researched and exhausted many options to raise funds for the program; but I still need some help and am therefore, reaching out to my loved ones. I know how loved I am and how much you all long to see me succeed, so I am asking... If there is anyway you are able to contribute, please consider being a big part of making this dream a reality! Anything helps, thank you for your love and support as I take this "Single Step."
