Help Sammy Get the Surgery He Needs

Sam is my best friend. He’s a 7-year-old domestic short-hair that’s developed a bad case of gingivitis and needs to have surgery and have teeth pulled. The vet says that he’s likely in a lot of pain, and the surgery will prevent further damage to his gums. He’s been prescribed medication to ease the pain, but his behavior has changed, and he’s a lot more agitated and anxious. He gets overstimulated easily. Saving is difficult, and I don’t want attention to his needs to be pulled away from him once the next school year begins.

Sammy is like the baby of the family. He’s so, so, so deeply loved. He plays with hair ties and wakes me up at 6 am on the dot for his breakfast. He tolerates wearing the many hats I crochet for him. The family calls him “Sammyroo.” When someone is upset, he’ll snuggle up right next to you. He loves his chin scratches very, very much. He’s very well-behaved and won’t bite you unless you delay his breakfast. He knows how to find the comfiest spots in the house to take a nap. As an anxious teen in middle school, he truly saved my life. He’s like my son, and I couldn’t do this without him.

Sammy deserves to live in comfort, especially as he’s getting older. I need him. And right now, he needs me, but I don’t have the means to provide what he needs. Truly, even just sharing helps. Sammy means a lot to me and to the rest of my family. We appreciate any help.
