Saving Dakota
Many of you know Dakota and love him. He is loving, kind, hard working, and one of the best you will ever meet. He would give you the shirt off his back, in a snow storm, if he thought you needed it. Some of you don’t know Dakota. If you met him in the last 6 months, you don’t know the real Dakota and probably do not like this one. Dakota is my nephew, but also my son. I have had the privilege of having him live with me and be his mom from 10 until 18. Before then, he was with his parents, who unfortunately were trapped in drug and alcohol abuse. Even with therapy, this caused lasting effects on Dakota. These last 6 months have been awful. My bright, shining light for all things good, lost his glow and took a dark path. He began drinking and vaping then wound up in jail. We chose to let him stay. After spending some time in jail, he decided he didn’t want this life and agreed to go to a rehab here in Utah. This will work on teaching him how to understand his past, be able to think differently, as well as work on skills for treating his addictions and self harm. We have to pay a large sum for us, $2400.00 in order for him to be able to go. Our insurance will cover the rest of the time he is there. He has agreed to a 90 day program. With an option to stay longer if needed.If you can help in any way to get OUR Dakota back, we would be eternally grateful. I just want the light back in his eyes and for him to see a fraction of what we see. There’s a spark, we just need to ignite it. Thanks for reading! ❤️The Walkers❤️
