The ongoing conflict in Gaza has escalated significantly, exacerbating the already dire situation for my family. The turmoil began on October 7th and has persisted, resulting in the displacement of my family members from their homes. The relentless violence has subjected them to extreme trauma, compounding the distressing conditions further.

With no access to essential resources, such as water, electricity, and limited food, our situation became increasingly untenable. We clung to our home until October 13, when occupation forces compelled us to evacuate to the south. When a temporary ceasefire was declared, my auntie bravely ventured back to assess the damage inflicted upon our house. The pictures she captured vividly illustrate the profound destruction wreaked upon our once-hospitable abode.

Presently, my uncle finds himself residing on barren land, enduring the harsh winter conditions in a tent. Their initial relocation to Khan Yunis proved untenable due to escalating bombings, forcing them to seek refuge in Rafah. Unfortunately, the prevailing circumstances in Rafah continue to deteriorate.

Before the conflict erupted, my uncle Bassam was a distinguished professor who had earned a PhD and worked in a college. His life, however, has taken a tragic turn. He now contends with the challenges of supporting six children, four of whom are trapped in the midst of the Gaza crisis.
