It's been nearly a year since the Counterculture Museum opened at the historic corner of Haight and Ashbury—ground zero of the youth culture of the 1960s. From beatniks to Merry Pranksters to hippies, bikers, Diggers, Black Panthers, Yippies and other activists, folk singers to rock 'n' roll bands, it seemed everyone in those days was on some kind of journey, whether physically, spiritually, or otherwise—and it was here at this intersection that all those roads converged.

For more than two decades we've had the privilege of telling the story of the Beat Generation in North Beach at the Beat Museum. With the Counterculture Museum, we get to tell the next chapter in that story, as the youth culture migrated to the Haight, and their predecessors passed them the torch: "It's your revolution now."

"What does the world need right now?"

That question became the genesis of the Counterculture Museum. We believe this not-so-distant history is more relevant now than ever, and gives us hope and perspective to confront the challenges we face today.

Your donation directly supports the CCM's mission to preserve the history of these critical movements, to share and celebrate our memories, and impart the values and lessons of the counterculture to younger generations.

Your contributions are crucial and much appreciated!
