UPDATE 25 Aug:
Jen has been accepted to the MTI 360 clinic in Italy for CRPS treatment and is booked in to start that treatment Oct 20. We would both like to thank each and every one of you for your generous donations in order to make this happen. Donations will be accepted until mid September.
My name is Falynn, I am fundraising for my sister in law Jennifer Martin.
Recently Jennifer was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) which is a chronic neurological disorder that usually affects one particular limb but can spread throughout the body. It is believed to involve both the peripheral and the central nervous systems.
The condition causes excruciating acute pain. Unfortunately, CRPS is still poorly understood, and significant research is still underway to learn more about its causes, symptoms and how to treat it.
Pain levels are described as exceptionally severe and can exceed that of amputation without anesthesia. It's considered one of the most painful conditions known and can significantly impact a person's quality of life. There is no known cure and here in Canada they can only offer pain. Control and Physiotherapy to keep the limb moving.
However Italy has a form of treatment that they have been doing for over ten years with an 85% Success rate in reducing pain levels and achieving full remission.
The cost of the actual medical treatment (not including travel costs) Is 28,200.00 Euros which is approximately 45000.00CAD. Jennifer hopes to have this treatment in October this year.
Due to Jennifer's disorder, she has been extremely limited from enjoying life's day to day activities. Jennifer's goal is to once again be able to pick up and actively play with her five young grandchildren, as she could prior to her disorder.
Thank you for taking the time to read Jennifer's story. Any donation will be helpful. We are grateful for your support!
