Unexpected tragedy has struck a volunteer firefighter and his family.

Along with a fulltime job, Cameron Johnson is a volunteer firefighter, devoted husband, loving father of 5 and a proud grandad to his newborn grandson. Despite all of this, he has experienced an intracerebral brain hemorrhage due to an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) located on his frontal lobe.

An AVM is a tangle of blood vessels in your brain that are more and more prone to rupture as you age. This is rare condition that is present from birth and usually goes undiagnosed until it's too late. Cam (like most) was unaware of this condition and spending some time at the gym with his wife when he started to experience a splitting headache and elevated blood pressure. His wife rushed him to the hospital where he fell victim to a hemorrhagic stroke that left him completely unresponsive and had to be rushed to surgery. Luckily the doctors were able to stop the bleeding in his brain and remove the AVM but now his loved ones are forced to anxiously await the outcome of this unforeseen event.

When you have a brain bleed, every place on the brain that the blood touches is affected. Right now, Cam is in a medically induced coma to keep his blood pressure down and allowing him time to heal post-surgery. Once the doctors bring him out of the coma, they will have a better idea of what Cameron could be faced with. Memory loss, paralysis, epilepsy, and various other disabilities are very likely but it's hard to tell what the outcome will be at this point. Cameron has presented several seizures since surgery and is currently on anticonvulsant medication. Along with being optimistic and hoping Cameron makes a full recovery, the family is remaining realistic and knows the likely hood of a long rehabilitation stay is high. Cameron will be out of work for an unknown amount of time, and as a devoted and advocating wife and mother, Amy is taking time off of work to stay by Cam's side and comfort her children. We are asking for donations at this time to help allow the family to grieve this traumatic time without worry of bills and expenses. We are all praying for a full
quick recovery, but preparing for a long slow journey. Only time will tell right now. Thank you for whatever you can contribute.
