Michael "Mike" Thaggard, Jr., the son of Mike, Sr., and Gail Thaggard, 1987 graduate of Tar Heel High School,  was diagnosed in May 2001 with aggressive brain tumors.  During the past 20 years, these tumors have grown and spread despite multiple surgeries as well as endless rounds off radiation and chemotherapy.  Throughout it all, Mike has courageously battled the severe physical and cognitive limitations that this insidious disease has caused.  His wife Tammy has been forced to leave her profession to provide continuous care to meet his many needs.
 
   Recent brain scans show that the efforts of doctors at Duke are no longer working.  To continue his fight, Mike now needs an experimental treatment not covered by insurance.

In addition to this GoFundMe, we are also hosting a benefit to aid Michael and his family in handling the increasing medical expenses they are facing due to his ongoing medical issues.

The benefit will be held from 11:00AM - 7:00PM at 900 West Broad Street Elizabethtown, NC (This is the former location of Thaggard Insurance).

 

Plates will be Take-Out only for $10.00 a piece.
