Trying To Save Her

Donation protected
See this picture. She would kill me for this because she is humble and asking for help or being this vulnerable isn't her thing. But, this is how I have had to spend time with my sister jessica for the last twenty years. Tonight as I sat with her unaware I was in the room holding her hand cold to the touch .. while I heard her crying for help in her sleep. I thought I have to do something. The last few years have been the worst. She has a son who is 5 and he has had to spend Christmas... Mother's Day ... thanksgiving... and almost every other week now just like I was tonight. In a hospital holding her hand. She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 10. At 18 the doctors told us she wouldn't live to see 20. She fought! defied what the doctors said, and she's still here 10 years after, but the disease is getting the best of her now. The trips to the hospital went from every other week to every other day. Both kidneys have failed and at age 29 she was put on dialysis. I know why she's fighting. She's fighting to see her son grow up. She's fighting for the chance to have memories with him see him off to the second grade. Hopefully see his graduation from middle school too high school and with uncertainty but still hope to see him graduate high school and even grand kids. She's fighting !!! I see it. In 2014 she suffered a stroke and wasn't able to walk or see clearly. She had no strength to even hold her son. Could you imagine MONTHS not holding your baby? I am a mother of four and it's amazing what we take for granted! Everyday I would watch her day in and day out regain her strength! She would tell me every day I just want to go home and hold my baby! It was like every shaky step she took was for him. When she should of sat down she pushed and pushed. Amazing what we do as mothers! She regained her ability to walk with her son in the forefront and regained her sight through therapy and surgeries and we all thanked God when she was able to come home. Most days I don't know where her strength comes from, but I watch her in amazement. Having to hear her think about who will take care of her son if something happens or seeing my nephew in the hospital drawing cards for his mom on the holidays. At my house drawing her as angel with chalk. Seeing him tear up every time I he says the word mom. Knowing she lives moment to moment with him because well she has too! It is broken my heart. I decided at the beginning of this year that I would make enough for her to get her transplants. She needs a kidney and a pancreas. It's 67,000 for each and I was going to get my license in real estate and hit the ground running. Well I'm getting there but not fast enough! She deserves it now. A second chance to live a normal life and a chance to make memories with her son outside of the hospital or without feeling sick and weak from trying to make the day special. A chance just to be normal and not fear that this moment playing outside holding her sons hand...may be the last. So, I ended up here. "Ask and you shall receive" "seek and you shall find" maybe just maybe people will hear the snip it of her story and help. Maybe she will find a donor. You don't know her or my nephew. But maybe your a mother or maybe you know the feeling of fear you get every time someone calls when she's in the hospital.. maybe you don't know her but you have been touched by a similar story! So, Maybe with a collective effort. She will have a chance. Maybe my nephew will have chance too have his mother back. I would rather try and do a go fund me for her then have one for him. So here goes nothing...
