Support a Brave Mother and Her Baby

Imagine marrying the man of your dreams and soon becoming pregnant. He starts to change slowly, becoming more controlling and protective. At first, he does cute things like telling you he will go with you to all your appointments because he doesn’t want you to be alone. Then he offers to run your errands for you because “You need your rest.” Soon, you realize he’s isolated you from family and friends, denies you basic respect, and yells at you for asking to leave. You give birth to the baby girl, and she is your everything. Now you’re trapped, and one day you stand up for yourself, and he hits you.
A woman I know is going through this right now and has left him and stayed at the Aware shelter a couple of nights. The women who are supposed to be there to support her sigh and roll their eyes when she asks questions they deem elementary.
She doesn’t want to go back there and be treated badly anymore. She is traumatized and afraid to do this on her own, but she doesn’t have a choice. Her family lives overseas. She has no one. No job, is a full-time college student, with only a car and a couple of backpacks, she asks for help. Here we are. A church has paid for one night at a hotel, but as of tomorrow, she is homeless with her 1-year-old daughter. She needs our help. She has applied for cash assistance, housing assistance, food stamps, and Medicaid, but applications take time to be “processed” and benefits given. The shelters are currently full. She needs help for 2 weeks until she gets help from the state. Anything you can give will help more than you know.
$20 buys a couple of meals. $50 pays for half a hotel stay. I know there are still people who have good hearts out there. Be overgenerous with a gift for her today.
Her name is left out intentionally to protect her privacy and hide her identity from her abuser.
