Hello! My name is Chi. I’m the producer and director of The Promise, a short animated film due for release on 16 October 2020 on BBC.
I need your help to gift The Promise to children in schools in nature deprived communities.
The Promise is an urban fairy tale about a young thief who tries to snatch an old woman’s bag. She finds she can’t have it without giving a promise in return, which leads her to transform her world: she plants trees and spreads green ‘like a song’ through the city that was once ‘mean and hard and ugly’
The Promise is based on the award-winning picture book of the same name by Nicola Davies and Laura Carlin. We have made this film because want to work with families and communities to bring nature back into the places we live.
In October, we will be working with Wild Labs to collaborate with schools and organisations to explore how they can make their communities greener and fairer. We will be seeking action from those with power to help with this transition.
We have created this crowdfunder because as part of our outreach, we want to give copies of The Promise book to children growing up in nature deprived areas.
We need your help to do this.
We have worked hard to secure the picture book at cost price, so for the price of just a coffee you can gift The Promise to a child who needs it. We would love to be able to give at least 1000 books to children, even more if we can.
You can choose to gift just 1 book, but if you can gift 25, you’d be sponsoring enough books for a whole class! We have some lovely perks lined up to reward backers who can gift The Promise to a whole class! We will be sharing details of these rewards in the forthcoming days.
Anyone can donate. Our minimum recommended donation is £3.00, this covers the cost price of one book plus payment transaction fees. To gift a whole class copies of the book is £90 - we have some very special perks lined up to reward backers who who do just that. We will be sharing details of these rewards in the forthcoming days.
If you back our campaign, you are not just giving ‘a book to a child’ but the gift of a story that inspires change, empowers action and promises a greener, fairer world.
