Hello, my name is Sara, and I have known Marce for over 20 years. I’d love to share her story with you.

Marcela Galán—whom we all lovingly call Marce—has always been someone marked by faith, compassion, and service. For more than 10 years, she faithfully served in the Youth Ministry at our local church, and she also dedicated over five years to organizations such as Techo Para Mi País.

Those of us who know Marce have seen firsthand that her compassion for others has always gone far beyond words. The way she lives and serves has consistently reflected a joyful spirit, a generous heart, and a selfless love for others.

Even through illness and the steady decline of her health, Marce has remained anchored in her faith in Christ (Proverbs 18:14). Her spiritual strength, unwavering hope, and joy continue to shine, even in the middle of this painful season. Not only is Marce enduring this trial with courage, but she also continues to encourage and uplift those around her.

But now, Marce is the one who needs our help.

In January 2023, Marce was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma with POEMS Syndrome.

This is a rare blood cancer that affects the bone marrow, nerves, and multiple organs. It causes serious complications and requires highly specialized medical care.

Since her diagnosis, Marce has faced many painful and life-altering complications, including partial loss of mobility and vision, involuntary movement in her arms and legs, and severe, ongoing pain throughout the day. It has been a long, exhausting, and heartbreaking journey.

Today, Marce depends completely on her older sister, Silvia, for daily care. For nearly 20 years, Marce and Silvia have lived together on their own. Since Marce’s diagnosis, Silvia has lovingly cared for her every step of the way—overseeing doctor’s appointments, meals, physical care, and all the day-to-day needs that come with this illness.

Because Marce now requires full-time care, Silvia is unable to work a regular full-time job. Instead, she does everything she can to make ends meet through catalog sales and by selling handmade items she creates from home. Even so, they do not have a steady source of income, and meeting basic needs has become increasingly difficult.

The goal of this campaign is to raise $10,000 to give them one year of financial breathing room and help cover their most urgent needs, including food, housing, utilities, transportation, and medical expenses—without the constant stress of wondering how they will afford the essentials.

We hope that everyone who reads Marce’s story will understand how deeply meaningful their support can be, especially knowing that Silvia is unable to work because she is caring for her sister full-time.

We also know that financial support is only one of the many ways we can stand with them. Your prayers, encouragement, and kind words are also gifts of grace that God uses to bring comfort and strength. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hola, mi nombre es Sara. Tengo más de 20 años de conocer a Marce, déjame contarte su historia.

Marcela Galán, a quien todos llamamos Marce, siempre ha sido una persona de fe y servicio. Por más de 10 años sirvió en el Ministerio de Jóvenes en nuestra iglesia local, y también fue parte de organizaciones como Techo Para Mi Pais por más de cinco años.

Quienes hemos conocido a Marce sabemos que su solidaridad y empatía con los necesitados va más allá de acciones. Su forma de vivir y servir siempre estuvo acompañada de un espíritu alegre, un corazón entregado y un servicio desinteresado.

A pesar de su enfermedad y del deterioro progresivo de su salud, Marce ha permanecido sostenida por su fe en Cristo (Proverbios 18:14). Esa fortaleza espiritual, su esperanza firme y su alegría siguen distinguiéndola hasta hoy, aun en medio de la prueba. Marce no solo persevera, sino que también continúa animando y edificando a quienes la rodean.

Pero ahora, ES ELLA QUIEN NECESITA NUESTRA AYUDA.

Desde enero 2023 Marce enfrenta el diagnóstico de MIEOLOMA MÚLTIPLE CON SÍNDROME DE POEMS.

Este síndrome es un cancer de la sangre que afecta la médula ósea, los nervios y varios órganos, causando complicaciones serias y requiriendo tratamiento especializado.

En la actualidad Marce ha enfrentado múltiples complicaciones como pérdida parcial de la movilidad y la vista, movimientos involutarios de sus extremidades, así como dolores fuertes y constantes durante el día. Ha sido un proceso de deterioro difícil, largo y agotador.

Es por eso que Marce depende TOTALMENTE de Silvia, su hermana mayor, para sus cuidados diarios. Durante casi 20 años Marce y Silvia han vivido solas. Desde que Marce fue diagnosticada, Silvia ha cuidado de ella, se encarga de sus controles médicos, alimentación, cuidados físicos y todo lo necesario para un paciente con esta enfermedad.

Es por ello que para Silvia es imposible dedicarse a un trabajo a tiempo completo, en el día a día busca la manera de salir adelante económicamente a través de ventas de catálogo, o la venta de productos artesanales que ella misma elabora en casa. Esto significa que no tienen una fuente de ingresos estable, y cubrir los gastos básicos se ha convertido en una carga muy difícil de sobrellevar.

La meta de esta campaña es recaudar $10,000 para que puedan tener un año de respiro económico para cubrir sus necesidades más importantes, tales como: alimentación, vivienda, servicios básicos, transporte y gastos médicos; sin la preocupación constante de cómo costear lo esencial.

Al entender que la hermana de Marce no puede trabajar debido a sus cuidados, esperamos que quienes lean esta historia puedan ver la importancia de su apoyo.

Sabemos que la ayuda económica es solo una pequeña parte de las muchas maneras en las que podemos apoyarlas. Tu oración y palabras de ánimo son también medios de gracia que Dios usa para confortar sus corazones ¡GRACIAS!
