Update:
Just want to inform everyone who reaches this page. I know it was mentioned that Asia had received a kidney transplant and although she had a long road ahead of her, we were hopeful things would progress at a smooth and faster rate. Since the day that Asia received her kidney transplant on June 11th, she has spent 57 of the past 60 days in the hospital, where she still remains. There have been many complications that have resulted in multiple surgeries and procedures. Just when she feels a bit better, more complications arise. So please keep Asia in your prayers as she fights through this season of her life.
*****On June 11, my sister Asia underwent a successful 5 hour long Kidney transplant surgery. After being diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease 4.5 years ago and being placed on dialysis the past 3 years, she has cleared a major hurdle in her quest to overcome the odds against her.
Through multiple attempts at finding a donor and people going through the process (something we will forever be grateful for) but it not working out, one person did make it all the way through and even put aside her desire to donate directly to Asia by donating through a voucher program. This program allowed her to donate to someone else in need, to ensure Asia received a kidney from someone else that the doctors deemed as a better match. In theory, she saved two people’s lives with her selfless and courageous act. Our family will forever be indebted to you, Sara!
Asia is now on the road to recovery. And even though we are overwhelmed with joy, she still has a difficult road ahead of her. The next 3 months are crucial for her healing, and with the main focus for her being to rest and strengthen her body through rehab, she has taken work off for the next 3 months. Our goal is to help ease her mind financially within that time to allow her to still pay monthly bills until she is able to go back to work.
We appreciate any help! And most importantly, we appreciate any prayers! Thank you in advance from Asia and her whole family! God Bless!
