Hurricane Ian Recovery
Donation protected
We are Sarasota Jungle Gardens, an 83-year-old tourist attraction and zoo known for our free-roaming flamingos. We are raising funds for garden clean-up and replacing our historic “Turn Here” sign on Rt 41 and Myrtle Street, which Hurricane Ian destroyed. The Sarasota Jungle Garden's sign shows guests where to turn to access our facility a few blocks down Myrtle Street. Our sign is iconic in Sarasota. There are a significant number of trees, branches and other plants down too. We remain closed while most clearing must be done manually or with small machines. We are also fundraising to cover operational expenses while we must be closed. Fortunately, all of our animals are safe.
Our hearts go out to all those dealing with the challenges from Ian. We are grateful that our employees are all okay and for all their hard work and dedication to Sarasota Jungle Gardens and our animals.
We’ve been asked how people can help us. We welcome volunteers and donations can be made through our GoFundMe account on our website. Any funds raised will help cover the costs of replacing our sign and clearing the debris. If you can donate, it is appreciated.
