Hello all!
The past few weeks I spent time in Saint Croix, US Virgin Islands on a travel study program through Winona State University. On this trip we did many awesome things such as volunteer with women and children in need on the island through the Women's Coalition, The Village (drug rehabilitation center) and Early Childhood Headstart.
We also spent some time at the Animal Shelter on the island. Here I met my handsome little man, Finn. The shelter on the island can't afford to keep up with the influx of pets and if I would have left Finn there, he would have been euthanized. He has been so happy here with me back in the states and is always eager to eat and play! Until I started noticing him refusing to eat and be extremely letharic. I took him to the vet and he tested positive for Parvovirus.
Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious deadly virus that can affect all dogs. The virus affects dogs' gastrointestinal tracts. Finn's littermate that stayed on the island passed away from the infection due to lack of care. Finn is currently in a Winona Veterinary Hospital getting 24/7 care and is under quarantine. He possibly could be at the hospital for up 2 weeks or longer. Treatment is very expensive. I saved his life once and now I am trying to save his life again. We are all praying for Finn. He is a fighter and will fight through this. If you would like to donate to help alleviate Finn’s medical bills, I would extremely appreciate any financial support you can provide me. I am a college student on a fixed income. Thoughts and prayers are also appreciated!
