My dad, Art Haddow, was recently diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer. Even with insurance, treatment costs are through the roof.
He is the hardest working man I have ever known. He has worked his tail off his whole life to get ahead in life, which worked up until this year. 2015 has been the hardest year for my dad since he was in his 30's -- he had two employees steal an inordinate amount of money from him while they worked for him. This took a huge toll on his finances, and it's been hard for him to dig back out.
Then the news hit that he had cancer. This has not only been emotionally devastating, the financial side is already taking its toll. My dad is an extremely proud and stubborn guy, and so it's been hard for him to think of even having a GoFundMe account. When I first asked him if he wanted one, he said no, but then a couple weeks later called me and asked if I could.
Any donation is appreciated -- we are trying to reach a goal of $5,000, which won't even cover half the cost of what he needs, but my dad is humble and doesn't feel right asking for more than that.
Cancer is bad enough as it is, but the financial hardship is also overwhelming. I'm reaching out to see if I can at least help take that burden off his shoulders so he can truly just focus on healing.
