Damon's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
This gofundme page is set up to help the MUIRHEAD's, James MUIRHEAD is a long standing member of 51 Division and has two kids Damon (10) and Lily (8). It was discovered, his son Damon has a large benign tumor in his brain. Damon's STRONG and BRAVE as he is determined to fight this tumour but as you all know this incident definitely throws a wrench into the equation.
Whether its parking cost for the 70 weeks at SickKids, occasional eat-out dinners, gas and potential childcare for Lily. His family will be spending a great deal of time between home and the hospital. Any financial help will be greatly appreciated to assist this amazing family through this time.
Thank you for your kindness!
Message from the MUIRHEAD's:
We’ll never forget the morning of March 15th. Damon woke up at 5:30 in the morning slurring his speech, throwing up and his head was throbbing. We rushed him to sick kids where we were quickly placed into a private room and before I knew it he was having one of his metal capped teeth pulled in preparation for an MRI. The doctors said “Damon could’ve experienced a stroke”. But with in a couple of hours we would’ve received the news that it was much worse. “Your son has a brain tumour”. Damon was placed into a close observation room and on the 3rd night his heart rate dropped. On Monday he was booked for a biopsy which he was rushed in to due to his dizziness and heart rate dropping during the night. We were told he had hydrocephalus and would need a permanent shunt. The surgery took 4hrs. We would have to wait another week to find out the results.
The results came in and we were told it’s BENIGN! However it is inoperable. It is a large tumor sitting on top of his optic nerves. He’s lost his peripheral vision in his right eye and if the tumor doesn’t shrink he might lose his vision.
Damon will be receiving a port in hope to start Chemo which he will receive once a week for the next 70 weeks. He will also be on a trial drug to better the odds of stopping the growth of the tumour and HOPEFULLY shrink the tumour.
